Residence Massacre Patch Notes & Events

Every major Residence Massacre update from Tea Studio — events, balance passes, and currency changes.

Last updated:

Welcome to the Residence Massacre updates hub — the chronological home for every major patch, seasonal event, and balance pass shipped by MisterGamer_67 and Tea Studio on Roblox Place ID 14437001043. Residence Massacre launched in August 2023 and has grown past 190 million visits, which means the game changes faster than any single night guide can capture. This hub groups the updates players actually search for after returning from a break: what happened in January 2026, whether Christmas 2025 cosmetics are still earnable, how Halloween 2025 introduced The Bunker memory, and why the currency label flipped from TIX to Coins in August 2026 after Roblox moderation.

Use this page as a table of contents. Each linked article below is a standalone deep dive with timelines, gameplay impact, and cross-links to guides that still matter after the patch lands.

Latest major updates

These four entries cover the most recent headline changes for veteran players and newcomers alike:

  • January 2026 Quality of Life — Christmas ended, PvP temporarily removed, F2P stamina and flashlight buffs, mobile and console QoL, Night 1–2 balance tweaks, and the later Coins rename context from August 2026 moderation.
  • Christmas 2025 Event — Ran December 19, 2025 through January 9, 2026. Introduced Blizzard on Night 3, six new badges, Nutcracker and Wendigo outfits, and limited-time cosmetic returns.
  • Halloween 2025 Event — Launched October 24, 2025 with The Bunker memory, Graves modifier on Night 3, Bloodmoon and Purgatory badge routes, and the Halloween crate.

Read the QoL article first if you last played during Christmas — PvP removal and stamina changes affect how every lobby feels today.

How Residence Massacre updates are structured

Tea Studio typically ships in three layers:

  1. Seasonal events — Limited modifiers, crates, badge batches, and lobby decorations tied to Halloween or Christmas windows.
  2. Content milestones — New nights (Night 3 in August 2025), memories (Spirit Helper, Mansion Incident, The Bunker), Endless mode, and lobby revamps.
  3. Quality-of-life passes — Flashlight behavior, death screens, mobile controls, modifier unlock rules, and economy labels like the TIX-to-Coins migration.

Minor bug-fix-only deploys are intentionally omitted here; when a fix changes night difficulty — blizzard damage nerfs, Mansion Incident pest climb speed, ladder break timers — we document it inside the relevant major update page.

Currency timeline: TIX to Coins

For years, in-game earnings displayed as TIX. That label mirrored old Roblox branding and worked fine until August 2026, when automated moderation flagged TIX naming and imagery as noncompliant “scamming” under current Roblox policy. The experience was briefly restricted while Tea Studio republished with a generic Coins currency. Earn rates, shop prices, and quest payouts stayed equivalent; only UI text and icons changed. The January 2026 QoL article still references TIX in historical refund notes (2,000 per removed PvP skin) because that was the label at patch time.

If guides elsewhere on this wiki say Coins, they reflect post-moderation UI. If an update note says TIX, it is describing the patch as players experienced it live.

PvP removal and future gamemodes

PvP — where one player controlled the Mutant against survivors — was temporarily removed January 9, 2026. Tea Studio cited outdated design and a desire to focus on mainline nights first. PvP Robux skins went off-sale; owners received 2,000 TIX (now Coins) per skin purchased. The developer stated PvP will likely return as a separate experience after all planned mainline nights ship. Until then, every guide on this wiki assumes online co-op survival only. See Players for community creators covering co-op meta.

Older events — Anniversary 2025 Party modifier, Night 3 launch, Endless mode, Night 2 rework — remain relevant for badge and modifier unlock paths. The Badge Tracker tool page lists which rewards still matter for the Mutation outfit grind.

What to read after each update type

After a seasonal event ends, check whether modifiers locked again. Christmas Blizzard on Night 3 was open to everyone during the event; Graves during Halloween similarly had no requirements for its window. Outside events, modifiers often require badge clears — see Night 3 and modifier notes in each event article.

After a balance patch, re-read the night guide for whichever night changed. January 2026 touched Night 1 ladder durability, Night 2 blizzard damage, pumpkin damage normalization, and Mansion Incident pest behavior.

After economy renames, skim Codes and How to Earn Coins — numbers did not change, but UI hunt paths did.

Updates explain what changed. Other hubs explain how to play now:

  • Guides — Night walkthroughs, camera setup, barricades, and memory routes updated after major patches.
  • Tier List — Item and gamepass rankings when shop or stamina meta shifts.
  • Scripts — Educational notes on executor risks; feature catalogs change when anti-cheat or mechanics move.
  • Tools — Night prep checklist and badge tracker for post-patch grinding.
  • Wiki / Links — Official Discord, game page, and community resources.

Staying current

Tea Studio still ships QoL tweaks between yearly night releases. When a new patch drops, we add or expand a dedicated article here before touching hub intros on Guides. If you notice outdated numbers in a night page, compare its “last verified” mechanics against the newest article on this hub — mechanics drift faster than lore pages.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Residence Massacre survivors.

What was the last major Residence Massacre update?

The January 9, 2026 quality-of-life patch ended Christmas 2025, temporarily removed PvP, buffed F2P stamina and flashlight, and shipped broad balance and UI fixes. The Coins rename followed in August 2026 after Roblox moderation.

When did the Christmas 2025 event run?

Christmas 2025 ran from December 19, 2025 through January 9, 2026. It added Blizzard to Night 3 with no unlock requirement during the event, plus new badges, hats, and outfits.

Why does my currency say Coins instead of TIX?

Roblox moderation in August 2026 required removing TIX branding because it resembled the retired official Roblox currency. Tea Studio republished with Coins; rewards and prices are equivalent.

Is PvP coming back to Residence Massacre?

Tea Studio said PvP was temporarily removed on January 9, 2026 and will likely return as a new experience after all mainline nights are finished. There is no fixed return date.

Where do I find Halloween 2025 Bunker patch details?

Read the Halloween 2025 event article for The Bunker memory launch, Graves modifier, and Bloodmoon routes. Follow-up Bunker nerfs on October 28–29 are summarized there and in The Bunker guide.
